His brothers: Lt. James Hervey Thyer, 2nd Divisional Signal Company, returned to Australia, 1 November 1919; (later Lt.-Colonel J.H. Thyer 8th Division 2/AIF, POW Japanese WW2) and 52111 Corporal Stanley Maitland Thyer, 28th Bn, returned to Australia, 22 November 1919.
