At the time of enlisting Patrick was living in Bathurst, NSW, He was also thought to use the alias of Timothy Quinlan.

Next of kin given as his mother Ann Quinlan of Cappinty, Brieroe, County Limerick, Ireland. Later changed to his brother of Ballygron, Limerick, Ireland.

Commenced return to Australia on 9 December 1919 aboard HT Borda disembarking on on 2 February 1920
