Son of Father, John William Armstrong, Swan Boys' Orphanage, Middle Swan, Western Australia

John took a degree in Agricultural Science on his return and became an agricultural advisor in the Great Southern District with the Department of Agriculture. Newspapers of the time noted he was a Senior Agricultural Advisor in 1930.

Mr. John Taylor Armstrong, B.Sc, A.G., has been appointed chief dairy officer for Tasmania, In place of Mr. T. H. Atkinson. Mr. Armstrong is a graduate of Perth University, and  occupied the position of senior advisor in dairying in that State.
