Biography

Brother of 3558 Pte. Charles Alfred Gage (/explore/people/167171) Killed in Action 03 Dec 1916 in France

"EUGOWRA. OUR SOLDIERS.

Corporal C. H. Gage, writing from "somewhere in France" to his father, Mr C. H. Gage, of "Pine Vale," Eugowra, under date 24/8/17, has something to say about some of the Eugowra boys that he came in contact with in France. He states he met Charlie and Jack Sutton, Alf Garnett (who is in the same Battalion), and Mick Galloway. They all look well, and oftentimes assemble for a "jollo." Corporal Gage condudes by saying that they had been having a good time lately, but did not think it would last long, as "good things didn't last long in France!" - from the Forbes Advocate 09 Oct 1917 (nla.gov.au)
