Life Before The War:
Charles William Berck was 44 years old when he enlisted and he was born in Antwerp, Belgium and later moved to Adelaide, South Australia before enlisting in the war. Charles William Berck was a seaman and he was married to Mary. They lived together in Willmott Street, Glanville, South Australia. His religion was the Church of England, he was 5 foot 3inches and ¾, he weighed 142lbs, his chest was 38 inches wide, his eyes were blue.
Life in service:
Charles William Berck enlisted in Adelaide South Australia on the 17th of January 1916. Charles William Berck embarked on the HMAT A19 Africa on the 9th of June 1916. After some time training in England he went to France with the rest of his unit in November 1916. He was hospitalised in April 1917 and in October 1917 the decision was made to return him to Australia due to age. No further information is available.
