Son of John Vingoe and Elizabeth Jane Vingoe of St. Just, Cornwall, England.

Previously served for nine  years in Matabele, Buchanaland and  the Boer War, Natal Rebellion.

Husband of Adeline Vingoe nee Trembath of St Just, Cornwall, England. John and Adelaide married during 1893. Adeline arrived in Australia post war.

Commenced return to Australia on 30 Jauary 1918 aboard HT Euripdies disembarking on 21 March 1918 at Melbourne for onward travel to Sydney.
