20 April 1917 - Wounded in action - bullet wound to the head. Wound resulted in Albert having to have follow up treatment between 23 August 1917 and 5 November 1917
15 November 1918 - Embarked for Australia on board HT Wiltshire due to persistant headaches from head wound

Alson served in the Boer War with the 2 new South Wales Mounter Rifles; 3 New South Wales Imperial Bushmen; A Squaadron New South Wales Mounted Infantry Service number 71. Rank - Coporal later Sergeant. Invalided back to Australia
