Unit embarked from Sydney, New South Wales, on board HMAT Ceramic on 25 June 1915..
Unit embarked from Sydney for Plymouth per the H.M.A.T "Wiltshire," on  22nd of August 1916.

He proceeded to Etaples in France on  28th of November 1916. He was detached with the 180th Tunnelling Company, when he was hospitalised for diphtheria in February 1917. He rejoined his battalion on 8th of March 1917. He received gun shot wounds in battle on the 3rd of May 1917.

He was the son of Frank and Levina Gee and the brother of Frank Gee.
