Biography contributed by Faithe Jones

LATE MR. WM. PARTRIDGE
The funeral of Mr. William Partridge, of Nabowla, who died in the Repatriation Hospital, Hobart, last week, took place at the Nabowla Cemetery on Sunday afternoon. The large gathering was eloquent testimony of the high esteem in which the deceased was held throughout the district. Mr. Partridge served in the A.I.F. as a member of the 40th Battalion. He enlisted in 1916 and was severely gassed in France and returned home in 1918. During the past 12 months he has suffered from the effects of war service. A service was first held in the Anglican Church, Nabowla, and was conducted by Rev. W. MacFarlane, of Scottsdale. The pulpit was draped with the Union Jack. Members of the Druids' Lodge marched in front of the hearse and the carriers were four returned soldiers, Messrs Leslie Winter, William Broadhurst, Bruce Rainbow, and J. G. Smith. Among those present were Mr. R. L Bardenhagen president of the Lilydale subbranch of the R.S.L., and Cr. H. C Watson, of Nabowla.
