Private Neil Alan Eckberg Johnson (Service No:NX94206) enlisted in the Army on 1 April 1942 (8 Infantry Training Battalion). Private Johnson served with 1 Australian Bridge Coy, 131 and 2/105 General Transport Coys, and 2/9 and 2/37 Transport Platoons. Private Johnson served in New Guinea (17 April 1943 - 7 April 1944) and Morotai (21 May 1945 - 4 January 1946) and was attached to 2/105 General Transport Coy at Discharge on 16 January 1946.

Born in 1914 in Sydney NSW, Neil was the youngest of three children of Leonard Edwin Eckberg Johnson (b1886 in Moruya, NSW) and Helena May Davies (b1889 at Port Stephens, NSW). Leonard (a Tea Merchant) and Helena married in 1909 in Sydney, NSW where they settled and raised their family and Leonard was a Tea Merchant.

Neil worked in Sydney as a Time Payment Collector and in 1940 married Beryl Douglas Hennessy (b1918 in Sydney, NSW). Following his Discharge in 1946, Neil and Beryl settled in Sydney where they raised their family and Neil worked as a Time Payment Collector/Traveller and Financier with the family business - Leonard Johnson & Sons. Beryl died in 1995 and Neil in 1996.
