Private Dell Richards (Service No:NF451832) served from February to June 1943 and was attached to 113 Australian General Hospital at Discharge. Brothers Godfrey, Ronald and Albert also served in WWII.
Born in 1924 in Kurri Kurri NSW, Dell was the sixth of seven children of Francis (Stan) Stanley Richards (b1888 in Leicestershire, England) and Ethel May Parker (b1890 in New Zealand). Stan was two years of age when he emigrated in 1890, arriving in Brisbane QLD on board the Taroba. The family lived in Ipswich QLD before moving to Woolongong NSW in the late 1890s. Stan (a Coal Miner) and Ethel married in 1909 in Woolongong and settled in Kurri Kurri where they raised their family and Stan worked as a Coal Miner. Stan served with the AIF in WWI (Private; Service No:224) and in the early 1940s relocated to Dalley NSW where he worked as a Labourer and Night Watchman.
In 1948 Dell was in Sydney, NSW when she married Robert (Bob) Pead (b1921 in Enfield, NSW) - Bob served in the AIF in WWII (Corporal; Service Nos:NX105699/N185597) and was working as a Salesman. Dell and Bob settled in Sydney NSW where Bob worked as a Salesman before moving to Melbourne, Victoria in the mid 1960s. They were in Melbourne - where Bob was a Manager - for ten years, and then settled in Port Macquarie, NSW where he was a 'Flat Proprietor'. Bob died in 1995 and Dell in 2002.
