Biography contributed by Thomas More College

Private Vincent Raymond Watts, born in Wagga Wagga, South Australia, enlisted in the Australian Military Forces on January 16, 1943, at eighteen years and six months.

As a member of the Australian Military Force, Watts served as a Private during World War II. Whilst deployed in transport division, Watts and other soldiers were called upon for active combat, however in horrendous they prevailed. Vincent’s campaign was around fighting in Papa New Guinea and the surrounding islands. Unfortunately, Vincent contracted viruses and diseases including Schizophrenia, Malaria BT and NYD Neurosis.

This eventually led Vincent to his dismissal on January 17, 1945, at the G.D.D. Royal Park after serving in World War II for one thousand and forty days. However, Watts did suffer with Malaria for the remainder of his life.

After his dismissal, Watts returned home to his family and continued to live a serene life until his passing on December 7, 2016, at ninety-two years of age.
