72 years ago today, on the Monday morning of the 27th October 1952, Lance Corporal Frank Glynn L Lambert, 20th Battalion (Reg No-4465), fireman from 2 Zaara Street, Newcastle East, New South Wales and 3 Morgan Street, Islington, N.S.W., was laid to rest at Sandgate Cemetery, age 62. ANGLICAN 1-32. 39.

Born at Quirindi, New South Wales on the 5th March 1890 to Thomas Cobb, Tom, died 10.3.1900, Newcastle Hospital, age 37, also buried here, from Harrison Street, Smedmore, N.S.W., and Rosa (Rose) Anna Lambert, died 1.7.1936, Wickham, N.S.W., age 70, mother of 5?, also sleeping here, from Harrison Street, Smedmore, N.S.W., and "Glenelg", Lewis Street, Maryville, N.S.W. and 3 Morgan Street, Islington, N.S.W.; husband of Mary B Lambert nee Johnson, married 1921, Burwood, N.S.W., died?, or Mrs. E. Lambert?, Frank enlisted on the 23rd August 1915 at Newcastle, N.S.W.

Unit embarked from Sydney, New South Wales on board HMAT A71 Nestoron the 9th April 1916.

Wounded in action - 14.11.1916 (GSW back and left knee), 20.9.1917 (contusion, left foot).

Admitted to hospital 3.1.1918 (impetigo), 25.7.1918 (not stated), 10.2.1919 (influenza).

Granted leave to England from 3.2.1918 to 19.2.1918 and 27.2.1919 to 13.3.1919.

Commenced return to Australia 5.4.1919.

Frank arrived home on the 20th May 1919, discharged date unknown.

Mr. Lambert’s name has been inscribed on the Cooks Hill Superior Public School Roll of Honour, Hamilton Loco Employees Roll of Honour, and the Islington St. Mark's Anglican Church Roll of Honour.

I have placed poppies at Frank’s gravesite in remembrance of his service and sacrifice for God, King & Country.

Older brother Frederick Cecil R, born 1887, Wallaroo, South Australia, single railway guard from Frankfield Hotel, Gunning, New South Wales, enlisted 24.12.1915, 1st Battalion, Reg No-5401, wounded in action - 2.11.1916 (GSW left knee, severe), RTA 26.6.1919, 53rd Battalion, died 2.4.1941, Randwick Military Hospital, N.S.W., age 53, resting at Woronora Crematorium, New South Wales, Plaque in New South Wales Garden of Remembrance, officially commemorated.
