Military Medal
'For most conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty while acting as observer for Battalion Headquarters during the operations near MORLANCOURT, South West of ALBERT on night 28th/29th July. His post was heavily shelled during the attack and subsequently; however, Corporal TWYFORD remained at his post and secured valuable information. While at his post he noticed a man fall wounded - he at once put another observer in his place and at great personal risk dressed the man's wounds and carried him to the R.A.P. Throughout the whole of the operations this N.C.O.'s work was of the highest order and is deserving of recognition.'
