He was 27.
Enlisted Mypolonga, South Australia 29 December 1914.
A former labourer, Harold left Australia onboard the 6,942 ton H.M.A.T. Konowna, on 24 June 1915, amongst a draft of reinforcements, for the 16th Battalion, Australian Infantry, A.I.F.
His brother fell whilst serving with British forces. He was Lance Serjeant Reginald Long, aged 22, Service Number 8800, 2nd Bn. Oxford and Bucks Light Infantry- Died 21/10/1914.
They were sons of William and Rosetta Long, of High St., Burham, Kent, England.
The brothers are honoured on the Burham War Memorial in Kent.
