Lisle was the son of Thomas Alfred Archard and Sarah Ann Archard nee Urwin.

In 1920 Lisle married Ethel Mary Martin.  After her death in 1938, Lisle married Mary Elizabeth Cyrene Whiting in 1940.

Lisle passed away on 14.11.1972. He is remembered at Springvale Botanical Cemetery.
