Eric Tilson LEADBETTER was born in Morven, Queensland on 7th April, 1896

His parents were Mark LEADBETTER & Mary Ellen JESSER

He enlisted in Toowoomba as a Private on 1st September, 1915 and embarked with the 15th Infantry Battalion, 13th reinforcements from Brisbane on the HMAT Kyarra on 3rd January, 1916

Eric was promoted through the ranks to Sergeant & wounded twice

He was Killed in Action on 28th March, 1918 and buried in the Military Cemetery at Dernancourt but his grave could not be located - his name is memorialised on the Australian War Memorial & the Villers Bretonneux Memorial

His brother Thomas Elliot LEADBETTER also served in WW1 in the 15th Infantry Battalion (SN 2928A) & returned to Australia in 1917
