Private William Arthur Male (Service No:VX61407) enlisted in the Army on 11 August 1941 and was attached to 2nd Armoured Training Regiment and 2/2 Tank Transport Coy AASC - Graded as Fitter and Mechanic. Private Male served in New Guinea in 1945 and was attached to 2/163 Australian General Transport Coy at Discharge on 30 October 1945.

Born in Beulah, Victoria in 1913, William was fourth of five children (and only son) of Arthur Male (b1872 in Willunga, South Australia) and Emma Alice Dellar (b1876 in Dimboola, Victoria). Arthur worked as a Farm Labourer at Willunga before moving to Willinabrina via Warracknabeal, Victoria where he was a Farmer in 1905 when he and Emma married. They lived in Willinabrina, Beulah and Rainbow where they raised their family and Arthur was a Farmer.

William started work as a Farmer and in 1937 in Rainbow, Victoria married Lavina Alice Sluggett (b1917 in Rainbow, Victoria). William and Lavina lived at Kenmare via Rainbow where William was a Farmer, and in 1941 when he enlisted in the Army stated he was a Tractor Driver (NAA; 1941). Following Lavina's death in 1947, William lived in Kenmare via Rainbow where he was a Farmer in 1953 when he remarried to Dulcie Louisa Williams (nee Innes; b1920 in Rainbow, Victoria). William and Dulcie settled in Portland where William was a Farmer and Garage Proprietor. William died in 1985 and Dulcie in 2016,
