OBITUARY.
We regret to record the death at the Maryborough General Hospital, on Monday, of Mr. Arthur Morgan Wilkins, aged 36 years. He had been for the past twelve months manager of the Red Arcade, a business founded many years ago by his father, Mr. Russell Wilkins, of whom he was the youngest son. Before coming to Maryborough the deceased was on the staff of David Jones & Co. Ltd. of Sydney. He had one brother, Edward R.Wilkins, killed in action in 1916), and he enlisted himself in 1917 and was at the front till the armistice was signed. While at the front he lost his wife, who left two sons now 14 and 9 years respectively. Since coming to Maryborough he married again last May, and much sympathy will be felt for his young widow, as also for his mother and
other relatives. Mrs. Wilkins senr., with her daughter, arrived from Brisbane last Saturday, and spent Sunday with her dying son. The body was sent to Brisbane by last nights mail train, and the funeral will take place in that city. As a returned Soldier, the Soldiers' League, placed a wreath on the coffin at Maryborough.
The sad intelligence has been received by Mrs. Geo. Mackay of Casino-street, South Lismore, that Mr. Arthur Morgan Wilkins, youngest son of Russell Wilkins, of Brisbane, who but eight weeks ago married Mr. Mackay's eldest daughter, Stella, suddenly collapsed at Maryborough at midday yesterday, death being due, it is believed, to injuries received during the war. Mr. and Mrs. Mackay leave for Brisbane this morning to attend the funeral to-morrow.
