Private Thomas Bryson (Service No:12945) enlisted in the AIF on 13 September 1915, and was attached (Batman) to 3rd Sanitary Section Australian Medical Corps (AMC) when he embarked with his Unit on 18 May 1916 on board HMAT A64 Demosthenes from Sydney for Southampton. Private Bryson served on the Western Front, and embarked from England for Sydney on 16 June 1919 on board HMS Ormonde (Nursing Staff). He was attached to 3rd Sanitary Section AMC at Discharge on 19 September 1919. Private Bryson served in Sydney the Militia (25 April 1932 - 6 September 1934) as a Drummer (Service No:254899) attached to 30/51 Battalion.

Thomas was born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1892, third of ten children of Thomas Bryson Snr (b1869 in Glasgow, Scotland) and his first wife Elizabeth McCaffrey Robertson (b1869 in Glasgow, Scotland). Thomas Snr (an Apprentice Optician) and Elizabeth (a Power Loom Weaver) married in 1889 in Glasgow, where they settled and raised their family and Thomas Snr worked as an Optician, Model Shipmaker and Insurance Agent. Following Elizabeth's death in 1911, Thomas Snr immigrated with his ten children, arriving in Brisbane in 1911 on board the Torilla. Thomas Snr and his children settled in Brisbane, where Thomas Snr worked as a Labourer and Insurance Agent. In 1920 he remarried to Isabella Morrison McCorkindale (b1879 in Glasgow, Scotland) - Isabella was a Dressmaker.

Thomas was working as a Labourer in Brisbane when he enlisted in the AIF in 1915, and following his Discharge was in Brisbane in 1919 when he married Mary Ann Cleland (b1892 in County Down, ireland) - Mary immigrated in 1911, arriving in Brisbane on board the Marathon. In the 1920s Thomas and Mary moved to Sydney, where they raised their family and Thomas worked as a Blacksmith, Storeman, Lift Driver and Caretaker. Thomas died in 1957 and Mary in 1963.
