"PRIVATE R. M. DOLAN.
Private R. M. Dolan, who has been officially reported as missing in France since July 23, is the eldest son of the late Michael Dolan and Mrs. E. M. Dolan, of Southwark. He enlisted in his eighteenth year and sailed for Egypt 12 months ago. During his stay in the land of the Pharaohs he celebrated his nineteenth birthday. He was educated at St. John the Baptist School, Thebarton. On leaving school he was employed in the office of "The Southern Cross" for about 12 months. He then joined the firm of Kitchen & Sons, Hindmarsh, and remained with that firm up to the time of his enlisting. He was of a bright and cheerful disposition, and his manly and upright character made him very popular with his fellow employes." - from the Adelaide Southern Cross 08 Sep 1916 (nla.gov.au)
