| 17 Jul 1917: | Honoured Military Medal, Bullecourt (Second), For very fine work and devotion to duty near Bullecourt, while acting as a stretcher-bearer, on the day and night of 13th May 1917, his cheerfulness and coolness under heavy shell fire set a fine example to his own and other bearer squads. He made repeated trips from the Regimental Aid Post to the Advanced Collecting Station, through a very heavy barrage, and each time returned at the head of his squad carrying the stretcher on his shoulder. His conduct under trying conditions cannot be too highly commended. | |
