Biography contributed by Faithe Jones

Son of Phillips and the late Theresa SCHEILER

SCHELIER - Killed in action on September 21st 1917, somewhere in france, PTE WILLIAM EDWARD SCHEILER, aged 26 years. Dearly loved son of Phillip and the late Theresa Scheiler, and brother of Margaret and Rosalie and Phil (on active service).  Deeply mourned.

His warfare o'er - his battle fought, His victory won, though dearly bought; His fresh young life could not be saved - He slumbers now in a hero's grave.

He was one of Australia's heroes, Who went at his loved country's call, To fight for her honour and glory, Or perchance, like a soldier fall.

Always so cheery and hopeful, His virtues won many a friend, And sadly we miss him who loved him, And mourn his untimely end.

Inserted by his lovimng step brothers and step sisters, Joseph, jack, Mary and Annie.

SCHEILER — In loving memory of my dear son and our dear brother, Pte WILLIAM EDWARD SCHEILER, who made the supreme sacrifice on September 21st, 1917 in France.
Greater love hath no man than this,
That he lay down his life for his friends.
In the ranks he was only a private,
But he sleeps in a hero's grave.
[Inserted by his sorrowing father, brothers, and sisters.]
