Served in The Great War, resting at Sandgate Cemetery.

39 years ago today, on the 26th May 1981, Sergeant Harold Francis Murray, 30th Battalion, builder and contractor from "Yarrium", Gray Street, Kogarah, New South Wales, and Hamilton?, N.S.W.,was laid to rest at Sandgate Cemetery, age 89. CATHOLIC 3-75A. 131.

Born at Kogarah, New South Wales on the 5th October 1891 to James and Theresa Murray; husband of Agnes P Murray nee? (married Scotland, March 1918, died 1988), Harold enlisted July 1915 at Liverpool, N.S.W.

Wounded in action - 20.7.1916 (GSW arm, hip, both legs, severe, Battle of Fromelles - http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article28102140), and admitted to hospital 13.12.1916 (trench feet, severe), Mr Murray returned home with his wife Agnes August 1919, discharged October 1919.

Unfortunately there is no marriage certificate filed with Harold’s service records.

Mr Murray’s name has been inscribed on the Hamilton (Gregson Park) War Memorial, Hamilton St. Peter's Anglican Church Honor Roll, Hamilton Superior Public School Roll of Honor, Hamilton Mechanics' Institute Roll of Honour and the Cronulla Surf Life Saving Club Memorial.
