PTE. ILLMAN.
Rev. W. T. Shapley, superintendent of the Methodist Central Mission, on Saturday, received a cable message from the military authorities intimating that Pte. Illman, only son of Mr J.W. Illman, of the Solomontown Post Office, was killed in action in France 0n September 18. Mr Shapley at once conveyed the sad news to the bereaved relatives, for whom much sympathy is felt. Pte. Harold F. Illman, 48th Battalion, previously in the 20 th Reinforcements of the 27th Battalion, enlisted on August 21, 1917, when he was 19 years and eight months old, and sailed in October of the same year. He was educated at the public school, Solomontown, and subsequently at the High School. He entered the office of Messrs Geddes and Co., and subsequently joined the South Australian railway service at junior clerk at Port Pirie. He was transferred thence to the parcels office at Adelaide. As a lad the deceased hero was very popular. His parents are old and highly respected residents of the town.
