Arthur Henry Tyler was a Corporal that served in WW1, (1915-1918) signing up on the 31st of March 1915. He was born in Port Lincoln South Australia on the 20th of November 1888. He was not married and had no kids, nominating his mother as his next of kin. He worked as a plasterer before the war. He enlisted 29th March 1915 and embarked 24th June 1915. 

He was wounded in action 10th August 1916 with a sharpnel wounds to his back and legs including a severe wound to his left knee due to a bomb blast during the battle for Pozieres. The next day he was moved by Ambulance Train and admitted to hospital in Bologne. Tyler was sent to hospital in England and received treatment. He was granted furlough and marched in to the No 1 Command Depot 19th October 1916. There he completed training until 30th November 1916 when he returned to France. He rejoined his until 14th December 1916.

Arthur was taken as a prisoner of war. He was first reported missing in action 11th April 1917 then eventually found out to be captured in Reincourt during the battle of Bullecourt. After being captured he was interned at Soltau Z.  

He returned to England 14th of April 1918 and was admitted to King George Hospital to treat gunshot wounds in his chest and shoulder. 

Arthur’s injuries were too severe causing him to be sent home due to debility arriving back in Australia 22nd November 1918. He was discharged from the AIF 17th March 1918.
