"...361 Lance Corporal Ernest Gordon Robertson, of Beech Forest, Vic. L/Cpl Robertson enlisted on 20 March 1915, he was commissioned on October 1918 and served as a Second Lieutenant with the 24th Battalion." - SOURCE (www.awm.gov.au)
Ernest Gordon Robertson (or E. G. as he liked to be called) met and married Edith May Hall in 1918 while attending officer training in England. They had 5 children, Mary, Gordon, Fred, Rhoda and Edith. They farmed mainly sheep in the Ballan, Victoria district and had a property called Thwaites on the Ballan - Geelong Road.
Mrs Edith Robertson died on 23 November 1938.
EG remarried Daisy Cameron in 1944 but Daisy died in 1955.
EG was very active in retirement. He was a member of the Ballan Racing Club and Ballan Bowling Club. He enjoyed visits from his children and grandchildren and was well regarded in the Ballan community.
