Robert Morton was born 26 August 1893 at Ballarat the son of Robert Rutherford Affleck and Frances Mary Morton.
Robert was a Student at Geelong Gramar when he enlisted 4 February 1918 and with the Field Artillery Brigade, Reinforcement 35 he embarked from Sydney, New South Wales, on board SS Port Darwin on 30 April 1918.
Robert on 7 June 1918 as was Suez and was admitted to the Government Hospital in Sues suffering from Influenza.
On 22 October 1918 Robert was admitted to the Military Hospital at Sutton Venny with Influenza.
By the 14 December 1918 Robert was serving in France a few days later on 17 December 1918 he had a sever attack of influenza with general weakness, sore throat, pyrexia and pains in the head. He was ill for over a month.
Robert returned to Australia on board HMT Shropshire on 16 May 1919 and was discharged 31 May 1919.
On 5 October 1921 he married Mary Eleanor Atchison and they had two daughters, Gynneth Mary and Alison Morton.
In the Electoral Rolls 1927 – 1934, Robert was a Grazier, he and Mary were living at Vasey. In 1936 & 1937 the were of Fifemor in Coleraine, in 1939 they had moved to Whitehorse Road in Mont Albert before moving to Kew and then to Mt Eliza.
Robert died at South Yarra in February 1958 and was Cremated at Springvale and his remains scattered.
