78 years ago today, on the Thursday afternoon of the 22nd November 1945, Private William Edward De Lore, 33rd Battalion (Reg No-3256), postal assistant from Mitchell Street, Stockton, New South Wales and 41 Hamilton Street, Hamilton North, N.S.W., father of four daughters, was laid to rest at Sandgate Cemetery, age 54. CATHOLIC 2-36. 91.

Born at Bulahdelah, New South Wales on the 7th October 1891 as De Love to Francis (Frank) J and Bridget De Lore nee Dorney of Mitchell Street, Stockton, N.S.W.; husband of Bella Anne Winifred De Lore nee Lyndox (married 1916, Balmain North, N.S.W. as De Love, died 25.10.1979, Newcastle, N.S.W. as DELORE, ashes interred?) of 98 Wellington Street, Waterloo, New South Wales, William enlisted on the 8th November 1916 at Sydney, N.S.W.
Unit embarked from Sydney, New South Wales on board HMAT A16 Port Melbourne on the 16th July 1917.

Wounded in action - 17.4.1918 (gassed, 1st Battle of Villers-Bretonneux).

Granted leave to England and France from 16.3.1919 to 1.4.1919.

Harry arrived home on the 10th August 1919, being discharged on the 22nd October 1919.

Mr. De Lore’s name has been inscribed on the Stockton Soldiers' Memorial and The Capt. Clarence Smith Jeffries (V.C.) and Pte. William Matthew Currey (V.C.) Memorial Wall.

Service record states Died after Discharge, 20/11/1945.
