Youngest of six siblings who served in WWII, Private Kevin Eamonn Patrick Dwyer (Service Nos:V520188/VX86918) initially enlisted in the ACMF on 14 February 1942, and was attached to 8 Base Ordnance Depot in August when he transferred to the AIF. Private Dwyer was attached to 2 Base Ordnance Depot at Discharge on 19 November 1945.
Youngest of ten children, Kevin was born in Wangaratta, Victoria in 1922 to Thomas Dwyer (b1874 at King Parrot Creek via Flowerdale, Victoria) and Flora Gillies Mclean (b1883 at Riddells Creek in the Macedon Ranges, Victoria). Thomas and Flora married in 1901 in Melbourne, and lived in Yea, Violet Town, Strath Creek, Glenrowan, Benalla and Wangaratta. Thomas was a Farmer, Wheat Buyer, General Commission Agent and Saw Mill Owner. He served in the 10th Light Horse Regiment, and in Glenrowan was a member of the Cricket Team and Captain of the Rifle Club.
Kevin worked in Wangaratta as a Bread Carter and Cordial Maker before enlisting in the Army. In Melbourne in 1945 he married Eileen Minnie Carpenter (b1924 in Melbourne, Victoria) - Eileen was a Typist in Melbourne. Kevin and Eileen lived in Wangaratta, where they raised their family and Kevin worked as a Boiler Attendant and Laundry Worker before settling in Melbourne in the late 1950s. Kevin was a Clerk and Sales Manager in Melbourne until his death in 1982. Eileen died in 1971.
