"...5148 Acting Sergeant Hugh Madigan Ross, 13th Reinforcements, 24th Battalion, of Bruthen, Vic. Sgt Ross enlisted on 9 August 1915 and embarked aboard HMAT Themistocles on 28 July 1916. On 14 October 1917 he was killed at Passchendaele in Belgium. Hugh's father states on his Roll of Honour circular that 'His grandfather, David Ross, served at Waterloo in (the) 79th Cameron Highlanders." - SOURCE (www.awm.gov.au)
