Biography contributed by Kathleen Bambridge

In 1920 he was gardening at Tranmere with his brother George. As part of the Land Settlement they were in partnership with the Department for a 4,700 pound property that the Department insisted be divided in case of any dispute between the brothers. They planted fruit trees and vines.  The men paid a third of the price of the trees.  They had kept their heads above water as they improved the property to 1920.
