Military Cross
'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty while in command of his platoon. He captured a machine gun and crew, and occupied the most advanced position held by the battalion, from which he succeeded in dispersing enemy troops massing for counter attack. He handled his Lewis gun in person after the team had become casualties.'
