Son of William and Annie Dawson of 507 Havelock Street, Ballarat, Vic. Brother of Harry James Dawson who returned to Australia on 20 December 1918 having served with the 21st Battalion
Medals: 1914-15 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal
He was a member of the school Cadets and served with Ballarat's 19th Light Horse prior to enlisting
