Private John Lynn (Service No:WX11897) enlisted in the Australian Army on 20 April 1941 and embarked for the Middle East with 11th Infantry Battalion on 9 September 1941 on board HMAT US12A. Private Lynn embarked for Adelaide from the Middle East on 20 May 1942 on board St Esselyt. He was attached to 6 Carrier Coy when he was Discharged on 14 July 1945.
Born in 1910 in Lanarkshire Scotland, Jack was one of the children of John Lynn Snr and Jeannie Thomson who immigrated with their famly and were settled at Yallingup WA by the late 1920s. John Snr worked as a Labourer.
Jack was a Labourer at Yallingup WA in 1932 when he married Dorrie May Williams (b1911 at Dongalocking in Kataaning, WA). Jack and Dorrie married in Busselton and settled with Jack's parents at Yallingup where Jack was a Labourer. Following his service in WWII, Jack and Dorrie settled in Perth where Jack worked as a Moulder's Assistant and Truck Driver. Jack died in 1980 and Dorrie in 1984.
