Birth registered as Percy Reginald Pakes. Reg was born in March 1899, he enlisted at 16 (put his age up) and served in Australian Army - was a private in the 3rd Battalion, Australian Infantry - enlisted 17 Jan 1916 at Erskineville, NSW.

3 June 1916 - unit embarked from Sydney on board HMAT A55 Kyarra.

1916 - won for first class marksmanship at Perham Downs, England.

18 Sep 1918 - Killed in action at Mont St, Quentin,  France at age of 19½ years, after two years and three months on active service.
