Son of Stephen Verdon and Bridget Verdon nee Gaffney of Hoddle Street, Richmond, Victoria.
Brother of James Verdon who returned to Australia on 17 August 1919 having served with the 2nd Field Artillery Brigade; Harold Paul Verdon who died of wounds received while serving with the 21st Battalion on 4 September 1915 and was buried in the Hem Farm Military Cemetery, Plot 11, Row K, Grave 12; William Ernest Verdon who was killed in action on 22 December 1916 while serving with the 21st Battalion and was buried in the Bancourt British Cemetery, Plot 111, Row C, Grave 3
