14 Dec 1916:	Honoured Distinguished Conduct Medal, Battle for Pozières , 'For conspicuous gallantry during operations, although attacked by enemy bombers he led his men forward with great skill and bravery under heavy fire, and assisted us to put a large number of the enemy out of action, besides capturing several prisoners, machine guns, and rifles.'
