Corporal Thomas Arthur Freckleton (Service No:1929) initially served in the Militia from 1914 with 10th Light Horse Regiment Warragul before enlisting in the AIF on 21 June 1915. Private Freckleton was attached to 21st Infantry Battalion when he embarked with his Unit on 26 August 1915 from Melbourne for Egypt on board HMAT A68 Anchises. Private Freckleton served in Egypt and Gallipoli, and was in France on 1 February 1917 when he was promoted to Corporal. In May 1917 he was WiA - Shell Wounds to the chest and scalp (severe) and evacuated to hospital in England. Corporal Freckleton embarked from England for Melbourne on HS Osterley on 31 January 1918 and was attached to 21st Infantry Battalion at Discharge on 12 June 1918.

Tom was born in Buln Buln via Warragul, Victoria in 1887, fifth of eight children of George Freckleton (b1846 at Port Fairy, Victoria) and Mary Jane Chesters (b1857 in Staffordshire, England). George (a Farmer) and Mary married in Benalla, Victoria in 1876 and lived in the Warragul region in Crossover, Buln Buln and Rokeby, where they raised their family and George was a Farmer.

Tom was a Labourer in Buln Buln via Warragul when he enlisted in the AIF in 1915, and following his Discharge, was a Labourer at Rokeby via Warragul in 1919 when he purchased a Farm (Battle to Farm) at Buln Buln. In 1919 in Neerim, Tom married Florence (Florrie) Charlotte Milner (b1889 in Buln Buln via Warragul, Victoria). Tom and Florrie settled at Buln Buln where they raised their family and Tom was a Farmer until retirement in 1950, when they sold the farm and moved to Melbourne. Tom died in 1972 and Florrie in 1976.
