Mr. Baker’s name has also been inscribed on the Murrurundi Bowls Club Cenotaph and Memorial Gates, Quirindi & District Memorial and Clock Tower and the Willow Tree and District Honour Roll.
Unfortunately, the Baker family gravesite does not appear to have a memorial inscription to express the loss of their son during The Great War, so I would like to see poppies placed there in remembrance of Vivian’s service and supreme sacrifice for God, King & Country.
Younger brother Clarence Alfred Baker (born 20.3.1896, Narrabri, N.S.W., single farmer from Blandford, New South Wales, enlisted 13.7.1915, age 19 years 4 months, Liverpool, N.S.W., 1st Battalion, Reg No-5659, unit embarked from Sydney, New South Wales on board HMAT A55 Kyarra on the 3rd June 1916, wounded in action - 5.1.1917 (GSW head, left buttock), 20.9.1917 (GSW face, left side abdomen, right hand, severe), RTA 3.3.1918, died 29.12.1978, Murrurundi, N.S.W., age 82, father of 4, laid to rest at Murrurundi General Cemetery, officially commemorated?, not listed on website.
