Distinguished Conduct Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He rendered invaluable assistance during a reconnaissance of the enemy's position. On another occasion, although severely wounded, he led his men in the most gallant manner.'

Victorian Lad wins D.C.M.
Mrs. J. Shingler, of 154 Tinning street, East Brunswick, has been officially notified that her brother, No. 3409, Sergeant C. H. Mayer, has been awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal for conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He was previously mentioned in despatches. Sergeant Meyer enlisted in June 1916, and left with the 11th Reinforcements of the 14th Battalion. He served continuously till April 11, 1917 when he was severely wounded. His only brother, Private E. Mayer, was killed in action on August 14, 1915.
