Ronald was the youngest of two children of John (Jack) James Beckhouse (b1886 in Armidale, NSW) and Lucy Ethel Dewsbury (b1886 in Armidale, NSW). Jack - a Labourer - and Lucy married in 1907 in Armidale, NSW where Jack worked as a Labourer and Gas Stoker. In the early 1950s Jack and Lucy relocated to Brisbane, QLD.
Ronald was a Grocer's Assistant in Armidale, NSW in April 1943 when he enlisted in the ACMF (Private; Service No:N455327). In October 1943 he joined the AIF, and was a Private (Service No:NX175487) attached to 148 General Transport Coy when he was Discharged in October 1946.
In February 1946 Ronald married Daphne Myra Albert (b1927 in Bundaberg, QLD) in Armidale, and by 1949 Ronald and Daphne had moved to Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast, QLD where Ronald was a Grocer's Assistant. Ronald died in 1962 and Daphne remarried.
