Bert was the eldest of three children of Albert Ernest Jude Snr (b1887 in Dunolly, Victoria) and May Grace Dyson (b1893 in Perth, WA). Albert Snr arrived in Kalgoorlie with his parents and siblings in the early 1900s and worked as a Labourer and Miner. He was a Porter at the United Service Hotel in Perth, WA in 1910 and in 1914 was a Wire Worker in Perth when he married May (aka Grace). The couple settled in Fremantle where Albert Snr was a Wire Worker/Weaver/Mattress Maker.
Bert had worked as a Wire Weaver in Fremantle, and was a Wood Machinist when he enlisted in the ACMF in February 1941 (Private/Bombadier; Service No:W35483) and was attached to 109 Anti Tank Regiment when he Discharged in November 1942 to enlist in the AIF (Gunner; Service No:WX35589). Bert served in Darwin (20 February 1944 - 6 March 1945) and was attached to 4 Australian Heavy Ack Ack Battery when he was Discharged in April 1946.
Returning to Fremantle WA, Bert was a Wood Machinist in 1946 when he married Dorothy Gladys Perks (nee Anderson; b1916 in Leonora, WA). The couple settled in Mt hawthorn in Perth WA where Bert worked as a Wood Machinist until his death in 1966.
