Alfred James Cairncross OGILVIE and his then partner Barbara Carnegie CLARK emigrated to Australia from Scotland on the 12th of September 1912 on board the 'Themistocles' both aged 21yrs.

They married in 1915 in Syndey Woollahra and had two children, Alfred Carnegie OGILVIE (30/12/1916) & Roberta Clark OGILVIE (09/08/1919).

Roberta Clark OGILVIE met and married John David DEAN on the 20th of July 1940.

Both Alfred James Cairncross OGILVIE (Father Inn-Law) & Henry 'Paul' Gilbert DEAN (Father) served in WW1, of (Son & In-Law) John David DEAN who served in WW2.

Alfred one of eight children to James & Jessie (Christison) OGILVIE is the only child whom immigrated to Australia and served in war.

On 17/05/1917 Alfred suffered from a depressed fractured skull after being wounded in the head and survived. He returned to Australia in August of 1917. before finally being discharged from the military on the 30/11/1917.

Alfred served in the 20th Reinforcements, 3rd Battalion, 1st Infantry Brigade.

After his service, Alfred submitted many patent designs for the motor vehicle industry. As well as two 'war-inspired' motor vehicle mascot (bonnet ornament) designs of a biplane and a torpedo.
