Biography contributed by Geoffrey Gillon

CWGC show his name as Walter ERNEST not Walter CHARLES, and his wargrave Private Memorial shows his initials as W.E. His death registration shows the initial of his middle name as ‘E’

The AWM Embarkation Roll (www.awm.gov.au) upon which ALL original service profiles are drawn from has incorrectly recorded the middle Christian name and spelling of the Surname.
