Bombardier Percy Richard Trout (Service No:7667) enlisted in the AIF on 19 July 1915, and was a Gunner attached to 5th Field Artillery Brigade on 18 November 1915 when he embarked with his Unit from Sydney for Suez on board HMAT Persic A34.  On 25 March 1916 Gunner Trout embarked from Alexandria for Marseilles on board HMT Minnewaska, and was a Bombadier attached to 5th Field Artllery Brigade when he was KiA in Belgium on 23 July 1917.

Percy was born in Brisbane QLD in 1896, eldest of six children of Richard Philip Trout (b1875 in Brisbane, QLD) and his first wife Catherine (Katie) Smith Lee (b1873 in Brisbane, QLD). Richard and Katie married in 1895 in Brisbane, where they settled and raised their family and Richard was a Butcher. Following Katie's death in 1910, Richard remarried in 1912 to Mary Ann Scanlan (b1885 in Brisbane, QLD).

Percy served a three year Apprenticeship with Mr Johnson, and was a nineteen year old Wicker Worker/Furniture Maker in 1915 when he enlisted in the AIF.
