Private Victor Mibus (Service No:V59277) enlisted in the ACMF on 19 August 1940 and served in Darwin with 23/21 Infantry Battalion from 9 May 1942 to 30 June 1943. Transferred to 58/59 Infantry Battalion, Private Mibus served in New Guinea from 13 February 1944 to 31 July 1944 and in Bougainville from 23 December 1944 to 15 February 1946. Private Mibus was attached to 58/59 Infantry Battalion at Discharge on 3 May 1946.
Victor was born in Hamilton, Victoria in 1917, third of eight children of Edmund Oswald Mibus (b1886 in Hamilton, Victoria) and Sophie Mirtschin (b1885 at Mt Rouse, Victoria). Edmund was a Farmer in Hamilton Victoria when he and Sophie married at Tabor in 1913. They settled in Hamilton and later Portland, where they raised their family and Edmund was a Farmer.
Victor lived and worked as a Labourer in Portland, where he died in 1987.
