Son of Thomas Ockerby and Edith Ockerby nee Beadle of Forrest Street, Cottesloe, WA formerly of Devonport, Tasmania.

Brother of Horace Ockerby who returned to Australia on 8 April 1918 having served with the 11th Battalion.

Commenced return to Australia on 18th October 1917 aboard HT Beltana disembarking on 3 December 1917.
