Louis Gordon Tackey ROWBOTHAM was born in 1889 in Staffordshire, England - his birth was registered in Stoke upon Trent
He was also known as Lewis Gordon Thackeray ROWBOTHAM on some records
His parents were Edwin ROWBOTHAM and Frances ROBERTS who married in 1881 at Stoke upon Trent
He enlisted in Roma, Queensland on 17th August, 1915 and embarked from Sydney as a Private with the 1st Light Horse Regiment , 13th Reinforcements on the ship HMAT Boonah on 22nd January, 1916
Louis was wounded in Action on 29th June, 1918 with a bullet wound to his chest and sent to the Northampton War Hospital - later he was invalided home as medically unfit - he returned to Australia on 6th September, 1919 on the ship Berrima and disembarked in Sydney on 8th November, 1919 on his way to Brisbane
He was discharged on 1st January, 1920 in Brisbane
He had married Sarah Elizabeth WHITEHEAD on 1st March, 1919 in Bolton, England at the Unitarian Free Church in Horwich - Sarah came to Australia but in 1930 Louis petitioned for divorce on the grounds of desertion - he was then working as an Orchardist - later he married again to Alice Mary SKILTON who died in 1965 aged 57 years
Louis died on 19th June, 1981 and is buried in the Cleveland Cemetery in Queensland along with his 2nd wife Alice Mary
