Lieutenant Gordon Campbell Reynolds (Service No:WX32874) first served in the Militia in 1939 (Private; Service No:W6931) as a part-time soldier with 11th Battalion (WA) VDC before transferring to the ACMF on 30 July 1940 - again serving with 11th Battalion (WA) VDC until 31 August 1942 when, as a Lieutenant, he enlisted 'in the Field' in the AIF. Lieutenant Reynolds was seconded during 1943 as an Instructor to 13th Infantry Training Battalion and 3rd Australian Corps. He served in Darwin, NT from 30 August 1943 to 25 November 1944, and embarked from there for Jacquinot Bay on board the Jane Adams. On 13 January 1946, Lieutenant Reynolds embarked from Rabaul for Sydney on board the Duntroon, and from Sydney he embarked for Fremantle WA on 23 January 1946. Lieutenant Reynolds was attached to 11th Infantry Battalion when his appointment was terminated on 4 February 1946.

Born in 1921 in Perth WA, Gordon was the fifth of seven children of Ernest (Stan) Stanley Reynolds (b1887 in Newcastle, NSW) and Florence Ellen Atherton Lippiatt (b1893 in Nambucca Heads, NSW). Stan was a Civil Servant in Perth, WA by 1910, and in 1911 in Busselton, WA he and Florence married. Stan worked as a Civil Servant - Clerk, Surveyor and Resident Magistrate in Perth, Broome and Albany, WA - and Florence managed a Laundry in Subiaco, Perth WA in the late 1920s. Stan and Florence retired to Sydney NSW in the late 1940s.

Gordon joined the Civil Service in 1936, working with the Post Master General's Dept as a Telegraph Messenger, Postman and Clerk. In 1943 in Perth WA he married Sylvia Vella Vedova (b1920 in Collie, WA). Following his Discharge, Gordon and Sylvia moved to Sydney, NSW where Gordon was a Shopkeeper, Retailer and Company Director. Gordon died in 2005 and Sylvia in 2015.
